Christmas morning.
When you’re a little kid there is nothing more exciting then Christmas morning. Besides your birthday there is no greater day of the year. Up until about 8 years old you still believe in Santa Claus, and even after you find out that Santa is really just your family staying up til the wee hours of the morning putting together your toys and arranging the living room just so, you still can’t wait to see what surprises there may be.
Once you get past that excitement too (let’s be honest, you can never truly get past the excitement of what presents await), the magic of Christmas morning returns when you’re able to spend it with a little kid, pre-8 year old so the Santa magic is still there. Having a 4 year old niece has really made Christmas morning that much more exciting for me. I grew up the youngest of four in my family, so I never really got to partake in the Santa preparation. Now with my niece, I get to construct a pink princess tent, with sleeping bag and tiara included; a specifically requested drum set, with tambourine and blue drum sticks; and a Gator Golf set which will envelope the living room. Though we usually only get roughly 2 hours sleep, it’s well worth it.
Getting to see your little loved one’s face light up as they enter the transformed living room makes your heart melt. They help bring back the excitement and wonder that you once felt as a little kid and this time your gift is seeing the enjoyment and appreciation they have of their new things. There’s nothing more exciting then Christmas morning.
